My love of drawing and painting started as I was growing up on a ranch on the Wyoming/Colorado border. The ranch background was a natural for realism and classes in abstract design blended to give me interesting approaches to many paintings.
Watercolor and acrylic are my favorite media. Watercolor is great for spontaneous studies and paintings, while acrylics are utilized for larger and more controlled paintings. I have always been interested in mood and atmosphere, as well as texture and space. I try to exploit these qualities in realism and/or a blend of abstraction in watercolor and acrylic. My paintings are predominately landscapes, wildlife and the “living wall” series of animals evolving from pictographs and petroglyphs.
